At Distinctive Smiles of Dublin, our goal for all of our patients is right there in our name: a one-of-a-kind, distinctive smile that no one can forget. If you’re not completely satisfied with the appearance of your front teeth, we can help with porcelain veneers in Dublin. These thin porcelain coverings remake the appearance of teeth affected by any number of imperfections, like chips, cracks, gaps, stains… and the list goes on.
Dental veneers cover up any number of imperfections with a single treatment. They’re thin, tooth-shaped shells of porcelain, a sturdy material that reflects light in the same manner as your natural teeth.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are placed over the course of two visits to your dentist’s office. In the first, we will put together a treatment plan and prepare your teeth for the new restorations. A small portion of tooth enamel must be removed from the front side of each tooth to make room for the veneers — otherwise they might stick out and look bulky in your smile. We’ll take an impression (or mold) of your prepared teeth, then cover them up with temporary veneers.
In between appointments, your veneers are created in our trusted partner laboratory. You’ll return to our office about two weeks later for their final placement. Dr. Buck will remove your temporaries and check to make sure the new ones fit, feel, and look just like they should. Once everything is perfect, the veneers are securely bonded to the teeth — and your new smile is revealed!
Candidates for Veneers
Most adults over the age of 18 who are in good oral health are eligible candidates for dental veneers. This popular cosmetic treatment can correct a number of dental imperfections, including…
- Broken, chipped, or fractured teeth
- Slightly misaligned teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Discolored or stained teeth
- Misshapen teeth (pointy or too short)
- Oddly textured teeth
Because we want to make sure your smile is in good shape before we begin with any elective treatment, we’ll schedule a checkup and hygiene appointment in advance of porcelain veneers. Gum disease and any cavities should be treated first.
Taking Care of Your Veneers
Once your veneers have been placed, you can expect them to last for many years with proper maintenance. Make sure you protect your new smile with a custom-fitted mouthguard if you play contact sports or grind your teeth at night. Maintain excellent oral hygiene practices, brushing and flossing regularly and visiting your dentist as recommended to enjoy continued oral health for a lifetime to come. If a veneer breaks or comes loose, contact us at Distinctive Smiles right away.
