What Are Digital Dentures?
Digital dentures utilize computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing software to simplify the creation process. We no longer use manual impressions but instead use a 3D scanner to replicate the exact measurements of your bite so that we can construct the perfect prosthetics for you. The impressions will then be sent to a dental lab for fabrication where they’ll use 3D printing or 3D milling techniques to create your new teeth. The process will typically require fewer appointments, meaning you’ll be able to enjoy a full bite much sooner than with traditional methods.
How Are Digital Dentures Made?
Once our team has taken an impression of your smile, we’ll use either our AvaDent or PALA digital denture options to virtually design and personalize your prosthetics. We’ll then use digital scans to evaluate your bite alignment so that your replacement teeth match your mouth. This information will be sent to a trusted dental lab where they’ll use digital denture software to fabricate a replica of your prosthetics to send to us for a fitting.
Your digital denture will typically be constructed out of durable, cured resin that closely resembles your palate and mouth tissues. During your fitting, we’ll make any minor adjustments necessary to ensure your results are perfect for your mouth.
Afterward, we’ll send the dentures back to the lab for completion. The denture baseplates and artificial teeth will be 3D printed separately. The digital denture process is designed to ensure that the final prosthetics are exactly tailored to your specific needs, that way you can make the most of comfortable and natural-looking tooth replacements for the long run.
